The calm and relaxed state of mind that is sometimes referred to as a "hypnotic state" is a completely natural form of consciousness.
We easily enter into this state when day dreaming, relaxing at the shore, awakening or falling asleep, and many other times as well.
Television, movies, and stage shows have distorted or exaggerated this normal state by falsely portraying (for dramatic effect) "hypnotized"
individuals as being out of control or unconscious! On the contrary, clinical hypnotherapy is experienced as a peaceful, quiet state of mind in
which the client is completely aware as well as very focused and concentrated on the desired objective. Clients enjoy learning self-hypnosis
and using protocols for support in various areas such as: stress control and relaxation, smoking cessation, sleep control, wellness focus, and more.
Mary has been studying and teaching self-hypnosis to clients since 1988. Some of her instructors include: The American Hypnosis Academy (Hypnosis and NLP 1988),
The Silva Method (1996), The Monroe Institute (1997), Creative Change Institute (Carolyn Dean 1995-1998), Drs. Bob Dick and Sid Hood (1990),
and Dr. Brian Weiss (author "Many Lives, Many Masters", Regression Therapy 1997)
